Our mission at Atlantic Yacht Delivery is to provide boat and yacht owners with professional, dependable yacht delivery, vessel relocation, captain services, and on-water instruction tailored to their individual needs.
Led by Capt. Thomas Ertle, a USCG Licensed 100 Ton Master, Atlantic Yacht Delivery serves private owners, yacht brokers, dealerships, marinas, and marine professionals throughout the U.S. East Coast, New England, the Mid-Atlantic, Florida, the Gulf Coast, and beyond. Every voyage is carefully planned around the vessel, weather, sea conditions, tides and currents, fuel range, navigation, and logistics to provide a safe, efficient, and professional experience from departure to destination.
Meet Captain Tom
When hiring a captain to operate or deliver your vessel, experience, licensing, judgment, and professionalism matter. You are entrusting someone with a significant asset, often over hundreds of miles and through changing weather, sea conditions, tides, currents, and unfamiliar waters. Choosing a properly licensed and experienced captain helps protect both your vessel and everyone aboard.
Captain Thomas Ertle, known as Capt. Tom, is a USCG Licensed 100 Ton Master with a Commercial Towing Assistance endorsement and more than 50 years of experience on the water. His maritime experience began boating with his family in the 1970s, and he has held a USCG Merchant Mariner Master credential for more than 25 years.
As founder and captain of Atlantic Yacht Delivery, Capt. Tom provides professional yacht delivery, vessel relocation, captain services, and owner instruction throughout the U.S. East Coast and beyond. His experience includes coastal, offshore, harbor, and Intracoastal Waterway passages aboard a wide variety of powerboats and motor yachts.
Capt. Tom is also a graduate engineer and licensed Professional Land Surveyor, bringing decades of experience in mapping, positioning, navigation, planning, logistics, project management, and personnel management to every voyage. That background provides a unique advantage when evaluating routes, charts, tides and currents, fuel range, weather, marina access, and the many details involved in safely moving a vessel from one port to another. He previously served as a New Jersey State Police certified boating safety instructor, teaching boating safety to thousands of students, and is a PADI-certified Divemaster, where calm decision-making, situational awareness, and patience are essential. Tom approaches every assignment with the same goal: protect the vessel, plan the voyage carefully, communicate clearly, and deliver a professional experience from departure to destination. Captain Tom is an exceptional captain who went above and beyond to deliver our 46’ Viking yacht from Brielle, New Jersey to Washington, DC. After purchasing the yacht in upstate New York, we managed to drive it to Brielle but couldn’t continue the journey ourselves. We reached out to Captain Tom late on a Friday, and despite the short notice, he coordinated with his mate Mike and met us at the boat early Sunday morning.
By Monday evening at 4 PM, Captain Tom was pulling up in DC. His communication throughout the journey was outstanding; he kept us informed of everything happening along the way. Additionally, he meticulously kept all receipts and provided valuable suggestions on driving the boat and how it handled.
