Atlantic Yacht Delivery provides professional yacht and powerboat delivery from Maine through New England, New York, New Jersey, the Chesapeake Bay and Norfolk, Virginia, the Carolinas, Georgia and Florida. Capt. Tom Ertle, USCG 100 Ton Master, handles local and long-distance vessel relocations using the Intracoastal Waterway, offshore routes, or a combination of both based on weather, vessel capabilities, fuel range, tides and currents.
Our real-world delivery experience includes routes through Portland, Maine; Newburyport, Boston and Cape Cod; Connecticut and Rhode Island; Long Island Sound and New York Harbor; the Hudson River; Sandy Hook, Barnegat Bay and Cape May; the C&D Canal and Annapolis; Chesapeake Bay, Norfolk and Hampton Roads; the Elizabeth River, Great Bridge and Great Bridge Lock; Beaufort, Morehead City, Southport and Wrightsville Beach; Myrtle Beach, Georgetown, Charleston and Hilton Head; Savannah, Brunswick and St. Simons Island; Fernandina Beach, Jacksonville and St. Augustine; and Fort Pierce, Port St. Lucie, Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale and Miami — along with the many inlets, rivers, sounds and Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) sections connecting them.
HOW WE PLAN EAST COAST YACHT DELIVERIES
Route Planning & Navigation
Every delivery is customized with the safety of the vessel and crew as the first priority. Planning considers vessel speed, fuel capacity and burn rates, draft and required water depth, handling characteristics, daylight hours, weather, wind and sea conditions, tides and tidal range, currents, available marinas, fuel stops, inlets and potential overnight ports. The goal is to make the safest and most practical progress possible on each leg while maintaining adequate depth under keel and keeping realistic alternatives available.
Weather, Tides & Conditions
Conditions are reassessed before departure and throughout the day. Weather windows, wind, sea state, tides, currents, inlet conditions and available water depth can determine when and where a vessel moves. Shallow areas, restricted channels and tide-dependent passages may require timing around favorable water levels. A typical day may have a Plan A, Plan B and Plan C depending on how conditions develop.
Fuel, Logistics & Owner Coordination
Fuel range, actual burn rate, marina availability, dockage, provisioning and overnight stops are planned throughout the trip. Mechanical condition, spare parts, access to service and other contingencies are also considered. Owners are kept informed of progress, changing conditions, schedule adjustments and arrival planning. Because weather, vessel performance or mechanical issues can change the day, fuel stops and overnight destinations are kept flexible whenever practical.

Long Beach Island, NJ → Portland, Maine
Long-distance yacht delivery from Long Beach Island, New Jersey, north through New England waters to Portland, Maine. Route, fuel and weather planning were adjusted throughout the delivery as conditions changed.
55' Galeon 550 Fly
Hollywood, Florida → Belmar, New Jersey
Long-distance delivery of a 55' Galeon 550 Fly from Hollywood, Florida, to Belmar, New Jersey. Daily routing, fuel stops and weather windows were managed across a major stretch of the U.S. East Coast.
46' Valhalla
Atlantic City, NJ → West Palm Beach / Riviera Beach, Florida
November offshore delivery from Atlantic City to South Florida, completed in approximately four days. Running outside for most of the trip, stops included Hampton Roads, Morehead City and Fernandina Beach before arrival in the West Palm Beach/Riviera Beach area for the vessel’s onward trip to the Dominican Republic.

Newburyport, MA → East Rockaway, NY
Coastal delivery from Newburyport, Massachusetts, through the Cape Cod Canal at Sandwich, Buzzards Bay, Rhode Island Sound and Block Island Sound. The route continued past Montauk and through Shinnecock Inlet before completing the delivery in East Rockaway, New York.
39' Front Runner
Niantic, CT → Fort Pierce, Florida
Long-distance delivery from Niantic, Connecticut, to Fort Pierce, Florida. After Long Island Sound, New York Harbor and Barnegat, worsening sea conditions moved much of the route inside from the Chesapeake and Norfolk south through Coinjock, Albemarle Sound, Pamlico Sound and the winding ICW through the Carolinas, Georgia and Florida, with stops at Myrtle Beach and Thunderbolt.
43' Egg Harbor Sport Fisherman
Jupiter, Florida → New Jersey → Lake Champlain
Long-distance northbound delivery from Jupiter, Florida, through New Jersey, New York Harbor and the Hudson River toward Lake Champlain. During one coastal leg, seas unexpectedly built from roughly 3–4 feet to 8–10 feet, requiring a route change for safety before the delivery continued toward the vessel’s home waters in Vermont.
